One of the first challenge is how to build a multi-storey staircase efficiently.
When i first started creating a stair, i couldn't remove the railing, and had a query.
Next thing i knew, the entire staircase was being model for me..
Things to take note of, the start with first riser, and end with riser, so that the center beam can align well.

About analysis
Problem proposition:
Linkway cuts across the plaza, how to remedy the ramp.
Level difference along the perimeter.
My sequence:
-Adjusting the contours?
-Why need for ramp to go up and down
J sequence:
-This linkway, firstly, " does it work", how does it look, from the road, look upon the roof.
Levels wise, does not even work so well
-Who uses this linkway
-Double linkway conundrum
Overall:
Sequence of questions, what is important?
Based on question asked, the bottleneck, does it work beautifully first?-existing context-human perspective
Bicycle Park discussion w H:
-Question: Who owns it, what is their agenda, what do they want to see
-Solution: Propose something for their agenda.

2020 Day 4
Last day of 30 days advanced ab workout.
Last day of working along, almost in the office. had the calmness to rethink about bch, it was nice to focus on design
Had a good seafood horfun at kok san.
Had a nice dinner with L & S
Wine at S
Showered, ready for bed.
Saturday.

2020 Day 1
A sunny morning this day. after NY s eve at O house, with S friends. L is in town. Cycled to the beach with a refurbished brompton which was great. East coast was crowded, was people from all walks of life. Nothing like a good dose of sunshine and seawater, after cycling, stingray and a cup of sugarcane juice.Reading a pattern language from Christopher Alexander on

Still searching for a right feel for the dalian warehouse project design
Ready for day 2!

Design Review Input and keywords
Nodes and relations.
-Sequence of thought started with lift, for whom, and route towards
-Fire Compartment based on usage
-Future ready= toilet locations? Note not to be located over f&b
-Relative sizes of things
Keywords:
-Difference between access way ( for fire engine to fight fire, min 6m) and access road ( min 4m),
min distance around facade needed depends on volume
-Based on public housing, type 2, categorise into exceeding 10m or not, clause 4.2.2, 18m maximum distance to exit staircase, where landing valves are provided
QN: landing valve is inside or outside a staircase. " in order or priority"
ANS: See scdf chapter 6, 6.2.2b,landing valve, if S/S lobby, Fire lift lobby present, in protected shaft outside stairs, inside stairs
-note rising main radius is 38m, if short of a little even after all staircase, can add standby firehose
-access way to be within 18m of breeching inlet
*note for BCH, can have overhead clearance of max 10m, but not counted as part of accessway distance
Key important circulations:
- Barrier free access route
- Shelter route
- Footpath
Quotable Quote:
J: Design is like doing a little dance, never a straight line, sometimes about showing options, letting one have leeway for another to have their option, and then backwards.
C: Thoughts: Relation. Example, location of childcare, access, sheltered connectivity, entrance width, service core..etc

SCDF Travel Distance
One weekend that
START STRATEGY 1:
- do note that overall width of s/c would be based on the most stringent floor load, x. so if auditorium on L8, with the most OL, L1-L7 s/c would need to also cater of OL x, with " no reduction in width, regardless of lower stories having less number of occupants".
So highest OL function, usually on lower floors. Clause 2.2.3
Occupancy load does not include ( non-simultaneous space)
- eg corridors, pantries, lift lobbies
Capacity: Note doorway/ corridor/ staircase
2) Placement of staircase
Condition 1
Condition 1
- remoteness cannot be < 1/2 D, or 1/3D ( if sprinkled)
Designer thought: that means storey building with a service core in the middle is interesting to see how their staircase fulfill the 1/2 D; 1/3D or maybe that would determine the floor plate size.
Eg in a 10x10 floorplate, distance between 2 stairs, as a sprinkled building has to be at least 3m apart..
To Think: About worse case scenario for a fire, and which s/c is available to run to, and if it can take the OL
Condition 2

To Think: About worse case scenario for a fire, and which s/c is available to run to, and if it can take the OL
Condition 2
-travel distance ( note sprinkler protected or not) * note travel distance is to door of staircase, not door of SSL
--> if details known, measure 1 way ( measure from remote corner of partition room to center of external corridor when 2 way starts, 2 way
--> unknown 2/3 of D
Qn: Is allowable travel distance to the splitting point?
One way is measure until : it becomes 2 way, or when it reaches the door of s/c
Two way is measure from most remote to door of s/c
START STRATEGY 2:
Depending on width of staircase given & table 2.2 A, one can estimate how many people max for that floor plate.
Eg, for industrial purpose, for a 1m wide exit staircase, ( based on 1 unit width is 0.5m); 1 m wide is equivalent to 2 units widths; based on table 2.2A, gives 2x60 =120 pax

Second week of work
have started revit again to work simultaneously while updating the cad plans.
questions ask
-what are the changes
-do not give the client what they ask for
( could it be that it was just at the spur of the time, and if they really want that exact specifics, they would highlight it again)
