Sharing session 23/10

 HS setback:

first 1m needs to be solid slab. we had to applied for waiver, as we have the staircase not within the first 1m, even though it is continuously rc, and roof is rc as well. perhaps this applies only for highrise, as in landed house, somehow the steps r parallel to the hs.

Draining of surface runoff:

If pavement drains direct water to planter, the soil takes some time to drain water off. usually is better to have a drain before the planter, scupper to direct the run off. There is a type of drain pipe that has a cone, that can drain off this run off.

Angle of slope:

If 15 degree slope, self cleaning,

Sample Unit Inspection:

-Door stopper usually left out, usually specified for bathroom & HS. but main door and bedroom left out.

A&A paint/coating works

-Top up of flooring, note min required 75mm concrete, rather than 50mm sand/screed. As sand/screed has no compressive, insufficient strength, usually epoxy(usually indoors, outdoors chalk) is needed but use latex, and then cracks appear.

-Note for precast, numerous joints. note joints are for movements, so don't cover/coat over, so as to allow for post tension slab flexing

-note for Powerfloat, min  substrate is 25N, remove top coat, so as to see cracks and blow holes, and patch.

-waterproofing specs should be from supplier rather than applicator.

 #Letterbox

-Note circulation to avoid dead end

-note recess underneath for handicap, min 230mm

-clear space between 2 back to back to be min 1200mm. as it is term as " secondary access"

#Sunken Planter

- so as not to block view, as raised planter, will have raised railing

-but note if sunken, soil has to be enough to plant .

#Lift Lobby

-Height max 3m? by TMArch? as services above head, vendor has feedback that need to have ladder to reach.

-*Telecom cable tray routing, services needs to be firmed up early, so as to avoid routing through lift lobby. If services, "services running though corridor to be in fire-rated board"

-As even if design allows for high void, if this is not taken care, lobby height has to be low, here is 2600mm.

-note size of tiles above head, more than 2.4m, no need tiles?

-Lift Motor-room if present, then last 2 floors don't need to have E&I & TMS detail.

#Self-Tapping screws vs Self drilling

-self drilling needs a pre-drilled hole

-note for self tapping, suitable depth of bit is dependent on thickness of material to drill through.

-self tapping screw

-Entirely done off-site is best: As this increases productivity, and with less people on site, less to safeguard

#Accessible Toilet

-2x2m clear so that it includes tile thickness

-note critical dimension of 750mm, rigel has a 750mm, note behind it needs a space for cistern

-note basin needs to have enough depth for leg space

-clear space outside 1.2m, if no accessible wc inside

#Lower roof (note RVO..penalty)?

-"lower roof slab ends at corridor, solution was to add a roof gutter". extend floor edge for rwdp

-key issue is how to address "roof gutter" at lower roof.

-note when u say floor edge-->parapet

-aircon ledge has a vent pipe. note location of this may overlap with location of gondolo stumps.

A monday in October

Today has been planned to be a focus day. Main task at hand, would be the completing the tree canopy for  today.

Last friday sharing bits included one part of self-tapping screws and self-drilling, and the difference between them and what to look out for, in the event that they need to be use. found a little video that may help:

HS comments finally came back. just 2 key comments on the NS wall thickness and the roof slab for the final level

This monday felt like any other monday when i first woke up.

But at the end of it, i actually finished doing the tree canopy in revit. can't believe it.

i need to replicate the efficiency of today, perhaps its also coz i started the day knowing that i have a road revision in the evening. so every chromosome was align to help get the work done.

The pain of the HS

 its not what happens but how one learns from it

ways to make setup in autocad less painful for the next round.

To Do:

1)Master block file. 

-List font sizes

-List Layer names and colors

-Give Clear block names


2) Revit Export View Template

-make sure names of rooms ( on its own layer)

-area lines (turn off)


3) Make life easier:

-find a lisp way to do page number ( or label tabs to field pg number?)

-add/update same block across different cad files.

WFH #DRAINAGE

 Drainage at Slab:

-when estimating depth above slab for decking, walkway, planting. whether 150, 200mm, is related to 

-Length of run to the rwdp. Eg: length of slope ( eg 16m) to fall at gradient 1:200, will need min 80mm for slanting of screed, if it is a straight line.

-Summit point is usually 100mm below top level. thickness for scupper drain neeeded

- this allowance of depth also determines the ponding affect allows before flooding, and the intervals of rwdp needed. hence if too shallow depth, more rwdp is needed at closer intervals.

-for rwdp penetration, as it is usually along columns, note penetration through beam

-note on siphonic drainage. usually pipe is smaller, no need for gradient , but because of tournedo effect if it is a leafy area, twigs and leaves may affect it

-rwdp, estimated 150mm dia pipe covered 200m2 area of rain water

-Every vertical pipe needs a sump. BIG/HDB only allows one 1 penetration per beam

Drainage for site:

-M&E: in charge of IC invert level

-C&S:  in charge of MH invert  lvl

** when MH/IC is more than 1.5m height difference, need a M&E tumbling bay detail

Drainage Tanks: 2 main systems: gravity vs pump drainage system

There are many types of tanks, detention tanks, RW harvesting tank, storm water tank.

1)Firstly, note Rainwater---> Harvesting Tank--->overflow--->Detention Tank

Usage Harvesting Tank--->Treatment room--->water use to wash void decks. ( not irrigation)

*to note pipe length required to run to the void deck, unless 1 treatment rm per block?

Detention Tank requires 2 access hatch, for air ventilation

2)House Drains/ CE drains---> Detention Tank--->External drain

3)Stormwater Tank: is for capturing basement water. the detail is same as detention tank. Location is below MPL

* Do note that because it is in basement, requires a pump to bring the water out. A swan neck/goose neck is necessary as it prevents backflow as there is usually electricity from the pump

4)Tank depths:

If Tank is 3m deep, water quantity collected, is 2m, as 1 m for access

5) Rain Garden as a bio swale, contributes to the catchment of the site. Eg, Catchement of 25% is needed for Detention Tank,

Times of Covid. WFH

 Today is the 1st sept.

Will be working continuously at home for the next 1 month. sp 01/09-01/10

Some goals:

1) To study the HDB unit type prototype vs kyb proposed unit type.

-2rm in terms of 2RF1 and 2RF2

-3,4,5 rm

2)Do situps to get back 6 packs

3) Improve facial complexion

4)Leave fingernails to grow

1 month break

 was just trying to find how long before this pause. has it been 12 years? fukushima is 10 years. i prepared some lunch boxes. teared a bit....
